What does it mean to know the history of a place? Well, it depends. If you take some time, drive around, look at museums and books, you can get a good idea of the history of an area. But when you know it, you gain a special connection to the place and it's people. I have lived in the Fort Myers area for more than 30 years, and not only knows the rich history of the area, but knows that the tradition is what weaves together the special spirit of Fort Myers.
When you've lived here as long as I have... you not only get to watch the trends and transformations, but, in part, shape that history. Much of the work I do in the community today helps to preserve the heritage that makes up the rich history of the area. Through my involvement with the Fort Myers Woman's Community Club - which has been meeting every month since the '40s - I have had the opportunity to work on the annual December Holiday House at the Edison and Ford Winter Estates, and am also involved int he Edison Pageant of Light, held every February.
